In this episode, Celeste is with Nya B, a licensed medical clinician from Chicago, Illinois to talk about taking and being in control against the chaos between anger and sadness. Living in one extreme environment to another, Nya B pursued in regaining her story with the use of proper coping mechanisms, intentions, and consistency.
Our difference in perception, household environment, childhood upbringing, and intentions are one of the biggest aspects of who we are today. This episode will help you sail and navigate the importance of anticipating and using what you can control in order to steer clear against the raging seas.

Nya B, MA, NCC, LPC is a mental health therapist, author, professor and professional speaker who was born and raised on Chicago’s South Side. Challenged by the duties of teen parenting and a survivor of trauma, Nya B has used her story to instill strength and perseverance in others. Nya B practices with a focus on being real, transparent and open to build inclusive therapy spaces for people of color and those who have been historically marginalized within the therapy and mental health fields.
Since 2001, Nya B has worked in the counseling field offering individual and family services. She is a licensed professional counselor, a national certified counselor and trained in cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy and internal family systems, amongst others. After working for various agencies, Nya B started a private practice in which she provides "in-home" individual, couple and family counseling to the residents of St Louis City and County. After 10 years of working for herself, Nya B holds over 18 contracts with local and state agencies including the military and Children's Division to provide quality care to underprivileged families. Nya B is also a state licensure supervisor and provides hands-on training and supervision to interns and candidates for state licensure.
Within the community, Nya B mentors young moms and young women (free of charge) who lack a strong female support system. She is also an adjunct professor for select universities in Social and Behavioral Sciences Depts. She is a public speaker who shares her clinical and professional insights with other professionals on how to be more culturally competent in their field. Nya B is the author of two memoirs, 94th & Racine: The Roots of Me and 94th & Racine: The Growth of Me. Each Thursday, she hosts a weekly, free group therapy session on Instagram called Group Therapy Live w/Nya B.
